Kokomo Grain and Feed Company (Kokomo Grain Co.) was founded in 1950 and consisted of a country elevator with 12,000 bushels of storage capacity. One of the first unit train loading facilities in the country was built at the present site in Kokomo in 1974. The company has enjoyed steady growth over the years through acquisitions and expansion and sells whole grains (corn, soybeans, and wheat) to processors for eventual use primarily in food, soft drinks, and animal feed. We have facilities in Kokomo, Amboy, Edinburgh, Anderson, Emporia, Burlington, and Winamac, IN.

Responsibilities:
The Grain Operator/Technician conducts management of the flow of grain in and out of the elevator and maintains strict maintenance of all grain storage structures and equipment. Works on loading grain into trains and assists in unloading and loading grain trucks. Visually monitors grain for irregularities and takes proper action when observed.

Receiving and unloading grain from trucks at various times throughout the year. Large volumes come in during harvest season.
Storing grain in bins, flat storage, and ground piles.
Operating the grain dryer.
Moving grain to train loadout from above sources in order to ship to designated facilities.
The cleaning out of bins and flat storage as well as picking up ground piles.
Understanding and following Lock Out – Tag Out procedure for maintenance, and observing all safety regulations and policies.
Repairing and rebuilding equipment to insure longevity.
Performing regular maintenance work as required.
Assisting in the training of new hires.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Must have a high school education or equivalent
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position, where you will be expected to be comfortable walking on catwalks in high positions, working in confined spaces, working on ladders, able to lift up to 60 lbs., and work in a team environment.
Must be willing to work overtime when trains are on site and during the harvest season.
